about

I've been pondering for a very long time whether or not I want to upload this version. As mentioned in the original mix: "This track was born out of my utter frustration that trance music did, in fact, evolve in ways that I don't approve of." And that includes the fact that it appears and more and more trance music nowadays completely lack the "release" section, which was actually the very thing that got me into trance music in the first place.

But, well, I figured, what if I make trance music that is not designed to appeal me at all, but something that people these days listen to? Anyway, this version came about because I kept remembering what my parents said to me: "Do not make music just for yourself. Make music for everyone else, too!" That quote got me angry, because that's essentially pop music in a nutshell: music created solely to make money.

Well, I'd listen to AfterHours.FM again, and sure enough, occasionally, the DJs would spin these "tech trance" as part of their tracklisting. While I gawked and waited for the next track to start playing, I realized that it's pointless to try to rant against those DJs' decisions. Because, after all, people LIKE this stuff. I've been struggling hard to love this kind of trance music, too. It's just that I'm so used to the expectation of the climatic melodic release that I felt cheated whenever these tracks instead start blasting that repetitive TB-303 arpeggio all the way to the outro.

Basically, this version was created solely for my listeners. Those who actually like to listen to this kind of trance music, with more emphasis on "acid" than the main melody. Those purists who'd rather like the good ol' days when trance music used to be more mindlessly repetitive than today, being literally "entranced", as in actually being closer to the actual meaning of the word "trance". The difference between the original mix and this one is that the main "release" section was completely eschewed, and to make-up for the slack, the acid-laden "drop" section in the middle of the original track was expanded longer and seamlessly segued with the outro.

Enjoy. (Also, sorry for the rambling.)
